Heat training is becoming very popular in the pro ranks, but should amateur riders like us be bothering with training sessions targeted at raising our body temperatures?

To answer whether this is something that you should be doing at home, we’re joined by Dan Loran, coach at Red Bull Bora Hansgrohe and Puck Alkemede, who heads up Core’s research and physiological development.

  1. Been using mine for about 6 weeks now, doesn’t take a lot for me to get into Z3, on a TT I just switch off the fan and wear long bibs and a thermal top! I now need to do an FTP test to see if it has made any improvements! I done one at the start to give myself a baseline

  2. I'll answer the question with a question – Do you race on a pro level? No? Then no.
Why? Because, if you need marginal gains to be a mediocre bike rider/racer, then maybe you should try an activity you're actually good at.

  3. Boiler suits or paint suits are very dangerous to promote . Especially when given the core is to help train safely . The paint suits or boiler suits haven’t been tested for any sports, you won’t find them in any sports shop for the simple reason they are not designed for sports.
Then to use them with heat training is crazy stating you can train safely with a core? Having worked in this field for quite some time I know sensors aren’t good enough to calculate with a paint suit on. Especially when going into to higher temperatures. This is where the dangers are and should be treated with caution.
