In this episode of Riding Heidelberg, we take our bikes climbing. We tackle the “major mountain” of Heidelberg, the Königstuhl. It peaks at 567.8 metres (1,863 ft) and is one of the Odenwald regions highest mountains.

Our 27 km ride includes a total of 590 m (1,935 ft) of climbing, a fair bit of snow, some icy surfaces, and some fun descending. I initially planned to ride mostly on gravel but, due to the conditions, ended up on pavement for the most part, with 5 km off-road riding mixed in.

💡 About Riding Heidelberg

In this series, I take you with me on various bike rides around Heidelberg. Together, we are going to discover the Rhein-Neckar region, Odenwald, Kraichgau, the famous Bergstraße, and more. In doing so, I hope to share what I consider one of the great cycling regions with the good folks of YouTube.
