I was out there last month. The weather and scenery were fantastic. The roads were rougher than I had hoped for, and dampened the excitement of the trip. Lots of washboard and very rocky. It probably doesn’t help that the new mine South of town has a bunch of work trucks rolling through. Time of year probably didn’t help either. I actually found the roads on the east side of the valley to be in better shape and more enjoyable.
I enjoyed it immensely. Road conditions prevented it from being a 10/10 trip. I will go back.I still recommend it, and people should ride bigger tires when they go. I really wish the valley was bigger and there were a lot more rides to do.

I’ve been there twice. Agree that the east side of the valley is preferable. The west side is steeper and more bumpy. There are some great rides!

I’ll be in Tuscon to ride for a week. Please share your recommendations. I like 3-4 hour rides. Bringing the Karoo.
