You really need a cargo cage which fixes firmly to the fork leg, and then strap the load to that.
Just strapping something directly to the leg risks it rotating into the wheel with potentially hazardous consequences for you, the bike and whatever is strapped to it.

Look for Fork Bags/Cages
And have a look if your fork allows additional systems/weight on them.

Fork cage⦠but i guess you dont have screwing points there. There are cages that lock to the fork without screws though. Cant you put it anywhere else?
Bad idea. I did the same thing and this is what happened. Front wheel stopped immediately and I went over the handlebars. Had to remove the front wheel to get it out. Trip was over.
You can use cargo cages from for example Blackburn. Use steel hose clamps to attach them to the fork, use some electrical tape or inner tube to protect your fork

Looks that our man is on the budget. So i suggest checking if u can just strap it on top of handlbars with 2straps.

I’d recommend putting these in a seat bag instead

Thank you for your Help and suggestions!
Found a way to do it safely (doesnt require the Fork).
In short i got myself a handlebar bar. Switched some Stuff from the back with the sleeping BAG and gonna put the excess now in the front

I mounted a cage from Decathlon with two hose clamps on each site.

I had the same issue as you and this is how I fixed it on a budget https://imgur.com/a/did-some-macgyvering-to-turn-old-mtb-into-bikepacking-bike-7JDDRqS
Has worked great with no issues.
