[Ep. 1050] The area adjacent to Utrecht’s Central Station is under reconstruction. The goal is to get it from fully paved in grey to lush and attractive in green. Plans could take up to 10 years, but the first phase of the project has almost been finished.

When in Utrech, I used to use Westraven Sneltram stop to get to /from the city. The changes – for the better – since the 1990s are astounding. The tram service has grown, though I'd still hesitate to describe it as a 'network' (any more routes in the pipeline?) and the return of the canal in place of that hideous ribbon of pollution is something many towns and cities ( cough Swindon) could learn from.
i wish we could put dutch city planners in charge of urbanism for my country spain and why not the whole world. dutch city planning, swiss rail planning, finnish education planning… that is what we need, to learn from the best at each sector

Climate Change is making weather events more extreme. This will impact the worlds food supply.
Floods, droughts, fires, excessive heat, snow storms and low water levels in reservoirs and in ground water storage are becoming more common. We must stop adding more fossil fuels to the climate fire.
India, China, Brazil, Japan, US, Europe, Indonesia, Canada, Germany and Australia need to do more to reduce use of fossil fuels. They must stop building and financing more coal fossil fuels power plants.
Time to go all in on wind and solar energy, battery storage and electric vehicles.
Fossil fuels are a bad investment for people and the planet.
Investors are divesting from fossil fuels. wind and solar energy investing is growing.
The cost of dealing with the impact of climate change will be greater than the cost of reducing the impact.
The world population is expected to grow by another billion people. Where will the food come from ?

When I visited Utrecht in the 1990s I saw the most beautiful people I had ever seen. Now you're telling me the streets will be more beautiful, encouraging even more people to bike & walk there? It just moved way up on my list of future places to live.
Sorry, we prefer Red asphalt to designate where cyclists have to go. It would be slightly silly to go green when cyclists and other users still use combustion engines. It isn't the green that feels disingenuous in Americans use green, it is feeling of disgust to make it green despite destroying what you drive on.
I'm allergic to green.
