So I sold my Surly Wednesday (instant regret) because it was a 2017 model where I was to a point I basically wanted to upgrade everything. I really loved it, but I didn't think it was worth it in the end cost wise, and I wanted to move to the standard 197 rear hub.

My first thought for a replacement, being that I love Surly and a steel frame, was the Ice Cream Truck. However, as I keep looking around I have been looking at the Trek Farley 7 with the Manitou Mastodon fork, and the more cost efficient Salsa HeyDay aluminum.

I can think of pros and cons for each, but I don't want to settle if I don't like it as much as my Wednesday. I wouldn't mind building a Wednesday, but worry about the 177 hub.

I don't do aggressive single-track, more adventure riding, but I wont pass up fun flowing lines when I come across them.

What would you pick as the best option as an all around, everyday, all season bike?

  1. I feel like the heyday is probably pretty close to an aluminum Wednesday, if it’s like the old mukluks were (based on owning a Wednesday and riding a friend’s mukluk, not looking at the numbers)

  2. That’s a tough one. I have owned an ICT since 2020 and ride it more with each passing year. I like the steel frame and it fitted with racks and bags. That being said, for the price the Farley would might be my choice if buying right now.
