This bike looks fast, $1.5K, is a mutt. There’re a bunch of different parts that seems to be put together. I would really appreciate any input on whether this is a good deal.
The owner doesn’t know the year but told me that he bought it from a commuter and replaced the group set among other things. Detailed description of the parts in the photo! Just need a bike for my first 70.3–doesn’t need to be a crazy deal. Thank you!!

im just saying i wouldnt want to spent 1,5k on a rim brake bike in 2025. but that might just be me.
It does look fast. In fact it is fast. This is a notoriously quick bike, and probably the nicest aluminum frame in production. There are some nice things about it (the frame, a fully new groupset, good wheels) but there are some not great things too. First, the rim brakes—they are good enough but all modern bikes are now coming with discs. Two, I’m not 100% sure that this is the perfect bike for amateur racers training for long races. This is super popular for amateur criteriums (45 minutes) and the pros were even riding it for longer road race, but for amateurs going long it may be a little unforgiving.
The last thing I don’t like is the price. Note that Specialized themselves have leftovers of this (with disc brakes) for just 2000.

Overall it is a good build. 105 brakes are good all day and Ultegra won’t let you down. This is a riders bike. It gets the job done all day everyday and isn’t trying to impress by being the newest and most expensive. The frame is solid as long as it’s not dented and the wheel set is good to go. $1500 is absolutely reasonable.
You know what? The more I look at the pics and think about the build this is a great bike
This description makes me suspect a damaged bike that was repaired by an amateur.
overpriced frame due to popularity and demand, many other better carbon frame w/full hydraulic disc setup out there.
