  1. For showering commuters – see if you can keep towel and shower things at work, as well as a pair of pants and shoes. makes the planning and the bag easier. I also have a complete outfit at work if i forget something when packing.

  2. Great series, looking forward to the next! I had a perfect setup for commuting: 7 miles mostly on paved bike paths in the woods, and though it had steep hills, I had an e-bike which excelled at climbing. Deal breaker was having my bike tampered with at work.

  3. Getting a basket fixed my sweat problems as a student commuter. Riding with the backpack on would leave me miserably sweaty, carrying it in a basket is so much more comfortable and I have no issues with sweat now.

  4. If you can, reduce the amount of hill work. For example, I sometimes park my bike at the bottom of the hill that my work place is on and walk the rest. I generally find it less sweatier to walk up a hill than cycling up it.

  5. You forgot to mention one big mistake most mamil do: never use backpacks for your stuff. Keep your body as free as possible to breathe and use bike racks with bags, even if they are not "aero".

  6. I want to contribute to the knowledge. Make the last 10 min of commute as cool down time! I sweat more and longer if I stop suddenly, but I dry quicker if I make the the last few minutes cooldown time👍

  7. I wear biking clothes when biking to work, let myself cool off for a couple of minutes (in order to not sweat on my change of clothes(, spot wash with a cloth, and change into my clothes for work.
It works fine since it doesn't matter if I am not completely sparkly, where I work.

  8. I'm very excited to start commuting once the weather here in New England becomes reasonable to ride in lol. This channel played a big role in my decision to buy an aventon e bike and commit to bike commuting this summer. Only issue I have currently is too much wind causing insane tearing on my end while my face freezes off, even with scarves and beanies. lmao. Thanks for the videos. Much love

  9. My office is 23km away in sunny Singapore so I can't avoid sweating and I don't have shower facilities at the office, but I use a towel to wipe my sweat off and wet the towel to wipe myself down. With some cologne, I feel quite refreshed and smell not all that bad. I do need an extra shirt to change into though.

  10. Getting an e-bike saved me like a half hour each day from not having to shower at work. And the trip became faster and more enjoyable. Game changer!

  11. Dry shampoo! Doing an entire shower usually is overkill. Just use a washcloth on your pits and face as necessary and put a bit of dry shampoo in your hair once you've cooled down.

  12. E bike e bike e bike. I live 7 miles from where I work and the only safe route involves large hills. I simply wouldn’t ride if it wasn’t for my e bike, it’s been transformative for how I get around. About to sell my car because I use it so little 🙂

  13. As to 1: just start training 20 hours in the week and commute will become a recovery ride and you’ll still be able to take over amateur cyclists

  14. A female perspective for bike commutung without sweat:
I leave my blazers in the office and cycle in my blouse/shirt, in winter with a light biking jacket. Then I cycle at a reasonable speed. For rain, a poncho over the front of the bike and yourself+backpack is best and easiest (no other covers needed, even protects legs&shoes).
When it is super hot and I want to wear a dress, I just wear bike shorts underneath for the commute, so I'm not flashing anyone.
    Further hacks:
A lightweight bike, like a folding one, is easier to drive uphill (and to store in a dry place)
In winter, when you leave your bike outside, take a gel saddle cover with you inside, so you have a warm seat.

  15. The more years I bike commute, the slower I go. It is a commute, after all, not a race. It takes me an extra 3 minutes, but it becomes a lot more enjoyable.

  16. Really only 1 way but it's only open dusk to dawn and I work 12-15 hours, but what kills it most is no matter which way I go I have to bike through really high crime areas.

  17. Being seen going directly to a shower, sink, or stall when you arrive will cause you to look unprepared. Making a side-stop near your workplace to cool down and freshen up can help you make a better impression at work.

  18. Buy an ebike that also has gears, that way you can use the assisted power to go to work with much less sweat and then use lowest assists/zero with the gears to cycle back, if you like to exercise on the way home, being sweaty isnt a problem then.
