Got a group set that included the power meter from marketplace. I put in a new battery, at first I got a single flash from the LED, but now there’s nothing. Obviously can’t get it to connect to my Garmin Edge 530.

Stalking the guys Strava, there was a ride where it didn’t connect to his Garmin. Now I’m thinking if that was a reason why it got sold.

It’s old, so I’d have to use the Qalvin Legacy app and an ANT+ stick to make that happen. Is there another way to check that the power meter still works? Or am I just SOL here?

  1. Do you have a magnet on your bike installed (near BB area)? You need that to activate the PM.

  2. Power_Meter_City on

You can try to clean the inside of the battery compartment to chase corrosion. Your battery compartment may be removeable. Don’t pull if not. Remove the cap, remove the tiny bolt holding the battery prongs in. The battery compartment may come off. If so, note the anti-rotation pin for later.

Using a cotton swab and isopropyl alcohol, thoroughly clean all the metal parts, bolt, bolt hole, battery spider, outside threads of the compartment, and inside threads of the compartment.

Re-install in the same order noting the pin if the compartment was removed. Make sure the battery prongs are all bent slightly upward and add a new non-Duracell battery.

It will only transmit via ANT+ so try to pair with your head unit.
