Hello hello. After 7 years of faithful service, my beloved 2016 Liv Alight 2 was stolen from outside a New Years party. I am deeply bummed, because I loved my bike a lot… and it looks like it's not really possible to find an exact replacement.

I don't know a lot about bikes (I bought this off a friend and it just happened to be the best bike ever), so I'd really, really appreciate some advice about what to look for in my next bike.

The things I liked about this one:

  1. I'm a 6 foot tall woman and it fit me well.
  2. It was super lightweight, which was perfect for my walk-up apartment.
  3. It had 3×8 gears, though I mostly cycled between the top 8.
  4. It was just a lovely, smooth ride. I used it mostly for commuting, but I liked that it was good to go on spots that were muddy or sandy or supoptimal in various ways.

Given my height, I think I'd be fine on a unisex/mens' bike– I liked how high the bar was on mine, and didn't have any issues mounting it.

(https://99spokes.com/bikes/liv/2016/alight-2 has the information about the bike, if useful.)

Any suggestions?

    Sucks that it was stolen.

Any hybrid with an 8-speed cassette will be a good replacement.

The Liv Alight 2 Disc would be essentially the same, just with hydraulic disc brakes – so better braking. However, you could go with any of the usual suspects – Giant Escape, Trek FX, Specialized Sirrus, Cannondale Quick, or literally any smaller but trusted brand’s hybrid.

Could even find any of these used to save cash. Just needs to be in your size.
