Just need to learn some bike handling skills probably, and in the meantime there’s no shame in walking something you don’t know how to ride.
But go ride up and down some curbs in your neighborhood or something and that should at least teach you some basics of dealing with your front wheel going over stuff. Kind of looks like your friend just plowed into it and didn’t even try to do anything about it. Also, speed can be your friend, looks like he was going to slow it just stopped him versus carrying some speed over a bump so you can just roll over it.

I say this in all seriousness: skill issue. He’s way too far forward and way too high, that’s an endo waiting to happen. If you’re riding gravel, you’re going to deal with a lot of ruts and a lot of washboards. This isn’t road, and gravel often requires a lot more “active” riding and conscious bike handling

You should probably read a helmet fitment tutorial… especially if you crash frequently. Good luck.

It’s probably more to do with that enormous handful of front brake your friend panic grabbed than a couple small ruts

I wish I had the guts to start blaming all my shortcomings and fuckups on external factors. My parents really fucked me up.
