Hi all!
This trip is my first time using mtb/xc tires, so I'm not really sure how far you can take them. I'm currently in New Zealand and the Mezcals are a lot more expensive here than in the Netherlands.
I've done a little over 3000 km on them and this is what the rear looks like. It would be another 500-1000 km before going home. I'm mostly concerned about the outer and inner rubber on the middle knobs (brown and black) starting to split and maybe picking something up and puncturing easier.
Would appreciate your advice!!

If I was somewhere where it was easy to get a suitable replacement I would. They will likely finish out fine. But you never know and better to do it when your at a stop than when you are moving.
If it’s not easy then its not a lot different than it potentially crapping out on you on the road so worry about it then
Edit- If its $100 vs $150 how much happier are you going to be that you aren’t stranded walking for an extra day all for the low cost of $50.
IMO they look ready to be retired especially if you are planning a long ride in a remote place.
I did a 5000km tour with a mezcal pair. The rear started looking like that after 3000km and it easily survived the last 2000km.
Swap em front to back maybe?
I’d be comfortable running those for another 1000km
Personally I wouldn’t change them unless you’re doing mountain biking, which it doesn’t look like you are. I’d enjoy the reduced rolling resistance! If you start getting punctures, maybe then change them.
The tread is… rideable, but those sidewalls are getting pretty bad. See how the exposed the cords are on the side? That tire is getting sketchy.. and if a front like that blows out, it could mean a serious injury
Evo cycles has on sale right now, so suggest order if you can, “click and collect”. Can confirm they are a reliable vendor, also can confirm that shipping anywhere in New Zealand this time of the year is a bit sketchy.
