There is a gap on the inside of the BB. Both sides are fully screwed in and the right side has a 2.5mm spacer as instructed in the manual. I have a 73mm bb. Is the gap supposed to be there?

The crank fits into the 2 inner races of the bb bearings.
Functionally that’s all you need.
Some have a sleeve to help keep dust and moisture away.
