The guy who talked about working out fasted and all, it sounds like he only eat about 1200 cal a day. He’s a pretty big guy. How does he do that? I am 5 feet one, 104 pounds female and I eat probably 1600 cal a day and a body fat of 17.
Regarding Koutnik: Endurance pros use more carbs. Because it helps them, especially at intervals, to crank out more power. And even though they wouldn't bonk on 12g per hour, their muscles doesn't conserve carbs when going hard, when they have more. So, the muscle actually learns going really hard in training, so it can repeat it at competition.
That said, Koutnik is right for all of us mortals, because it never made sense for amateurs to emulate the pros' carb intake.
Unless you can push 400 watts on a bike for an extended period of time. Or the equivalent of that at other endurance disciplines.
Which is highly unlikely.
