Wanted to get the new aero bottles with my Madone, but read a lot of bad reviews: small bottle neck, leaking while riding, inability to stand still due to its form and for sure $99 price. Even trek salesman discouraged me of getting them.
Thus, I have found an alternative which I just have tested on the ride and really liked – Gripper Aero from Cannondale. IMO it solves all the concerns I mentioned above for just $31. Will get a second one shortly

I’m no aerospace engineer but I think if you’re not running the RSL bottles that fill the lower space, you probably should just use regular bottles.
