Profile 100%. Tried and tested, easier to get replaced parts and will last pretty much as long as your shell will allow it to.
Bonus points for surviving pegs abuse better than most hubs.
I heard horror stories about magneto hubs being loose and having side to side play. On top of that, fly never has stock so you will be waiting forever to replace axles or anything else you might need to replace.

Well, if you’ve got issues with the profile all spares are available and easy to acquire. Fly, as we all know have had problems for the past couple of years on supply and spares. Price might also make the difference depending on where you are in the world.

Good points already made so I’ll mention my 2c – These are very different hubs and at least imo really serve 2 different styles of riding.

Profile all day everyday. The quality and craftsmanship are unmatched. Tried running different brands of rear hubs just to switch things up after running profiles for a decade, and immediately regretted it and went back to profile. They spin forever and engage quick as fuck. Also they sound fucking magnificent, especially if you get the elites.

I don’t run profile anymore
I got a profile mini with ti internals and one way I did a 3 and I was like oh shit I popped a spoke NOPE I ripped the hub flange off. After I tried to warranty it they said it was the a brake not a default and asked if I laced my own wheel
I said yes as I’m a bike mechanic and I have built my own wheels since I was 13. After back and forth with profile the eventually told me they would fix it for the cost of a entire new hub
Safe to say I don’t buy profile parts anymore

Have run a mini rear hub with 3/8 female axle and peg on one side and have had zero issues the past 7 years. Profile makes some quality stuff.

Been riding the same set of Profiles for 20+ years now. I have changed all the internals a few times, but they are solid. However, felt like it’s time for a change as the rims need to be replaced, so getting Magneto’s as soon as Fly ships them. Can’t speak about those yet, but you can’t go wrong with Profiles – make sure you get the right axles for your type of riding.

No hub is perfect and need servicing now and then, but I can say that I have purchased profile replacement parts at hardware stores. Small things like bolts or cap Head screws and bearings can be purchased in most towns within the US.

Mini over the fly forsure. Also worth considering since they’ve been on sale – the Shadow Conspiracy Definitive hub. I’ve been torturing mine for the last year and it’s unreal. Sounds pretty insane too if you care about that.

I’ve had a madera (profile mini) for a decade and it really is an excellent hub. I will say that the “rebuildable” part is great for one component at a time, but for a full rebuild, that is everything but the shell, all the parts add up to the same price as a complete new hub. But you will not run into an issue of having a hub that you can’t readily find parts for like other companies that are constantly revising or discontinuing designs

Well, if you’ve got issues with the profile all spares are available and easy to acquire. Fly, as we all know have had problems for the past couple of years on supply and spares. Price might also make the difference depending on where you are in the world.
