  1. I ride 6 days per week for three weeks straight to make a block. On the 4th week I reduce volume to about 60%. Each week will have ~10% more TSS than the week before.

    4 of those workouts are in Zone 2.

    2 of those workouts are interval days focusing on the current block so usually Tempo/Sweet Spot, Threshold, or VO2 Max. For touring you probably don’t need much VO2 Max.

    During the base period (now) I’m lifting, mostly legs and core, 3 days per week.

  2. In addition to other advice, don’t forget full body workouts to build core strength or you’re gonna end up out with some weird pulled muscle in your ribs despite huge quads.
