Welcome to Bike Routes of Brum! A channel dedicated to showing safe cycle routes around Birmingham and the West Midlands – inspired by @Londoncycleroutes.
In this video, we are cycling from Moor Street Station to the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in Northfield. It isn’t the most direct route as it becomes a bit unsafe past Selly Oak and so the route will probably take about 45 minutes to cycle.
There are plans to extend the A38 Cycle Lane to Longbridge and this route will go stright past the hospital so hopefully this extension will make this video redundant!
The route can be downloaded from the .GPX file here:

And a link to the petition to extend the route can be seen here:

nice!
Great video as always. I personally would have hopped on to the pavement after the crossing after the old Sainsbury's. Quite a few pavements are shared (not ideal I admit) but with care you can cut out most of the bournville bit.
I hated the covid cycle lane on the Bristol Rd, it was a nightmare when cars wanted to turn into the side roads. They would wizz past and promptly cut you up in a very dangerous fashion and I was closed passed quite a few times so I ended up on the pavement most of the time. Agree about the Rea valley route, but I do use it quite often on my rides to Longbridge as a traffic free route on a nice day.
I think the Blue route by Kent St is a nightmare too, I stopped cycling to town on it now.
I go through Moor Street to New Street regularly, so it's good to see from a local how to get from there to protected cycle infrastructure.
Awesome video as per! I also didnβt expect a Barrels shout out ππΎππΎππΎ
Thank you so much, for making this video, it's greatly appreciated. : )
