Hold the grips
Switch to bar tape or wear gloves
drops arent gonna be good leverage for skidding. some variation of flats or shallow sloped risers are gonna be a bit better for skidding/handling purposes. you can stick to drops but those are made for aero its just a choice of what style of riding you like most
Swap your track drops with risers, bullhorns, or regular drops. They’re too steep and narrow to keep your body stable while doing a long skid. Also lean more forward like ‘balls to stem’ forward. Doing these on bullhorns is much easier since more of your weight is at the front. A bigger cog like a 19t helps to lighten the ratio. Once you get comfortable though it is possible to do long skids on track drops you can check [this longest skid video](https://youtu.be/hejvqOKyEqg?si=qoDGHwHNqDvQ9S6J) so you can see what I mean
Bullhorn bars (or flat bars) and a less aggressive (less drop) stem will make a world of difference while you’re learning. Learn to skip stop in addition to skid stop.
It is probably just the drops being low, it takes time and much more control with drops, especially track drops
I had the experience of essentially relearning how to skid on drops
Practice, practice, practice or change to shallower drops 🤙
Yea the negative angle stem is what’s making it harder. Idk about holding the drops to skin that’s crazy but I haven’t tried it so who knows. On my drop bars I hold the edges where it starts to curve forward/down. I agree with everyone else that risers or bullhorns would be easier
