What could be the reason behind this play in my left pedal? All looks tightened enough, no play in the right pedal. Should I even mind this?

It’s play in the bearings on the axle of the pedal.
You can take the pedal off, take apart, clean, re-grease and reassemble. This might fix it assuming it’s all not too worn.
The alternative (and quicker option) is the buy a new set of pedals and install those.
