Hello! Beginner biker here! I’ve recently made a decision to start biking to my work place, and I have two bikes to choose from. The first is a Raleigh C30 that I picked for like 40 bucks, and the second is a bike that I found in the garbage, though I don’t know the brand. Are either of these bikes preferred over the other? Additionally, would it be worth upgrading any of the components on the bike I choose to ride? I have a 5 mile commute on fairly level roads, and I would like to make that commute as easy as possible without much cash influx. Thanks in advance for the help!!

Well the price was right on both, so that’s positive. The front brake on the “trek” isn’t set up right, so I wouldn’t ride that, as is.

If you get everything in working order, the “trek” looks like more my style, but they’re both way too small for me. After getting them both in working order, figure out if one fits better than the other.

The logo on the green bike is the logo of Trek.
Trek bikes are usually a bit more expensive, but from the components, it looks like yours is more of an entry-level bike.

I would definitely prefer the Trek over the other bike.
But as someone else mentioned, the front brake is not set up correctly. Also, on the first picture, it looks like there is a dent in the front tire. This might just be a twisted tube. But you should fix that before riding.

Edit: Also, the back tire of the Trek seems to be flat.

Wow, nice find! Both are good commuter bikes. I’d keep both so you always have a backup.
