I need a quality bikeseat that won’t break under my weight.

I have a mongoose one gear bike with 26in x 4 in wheels. I’m a heavy guy; I weight around 350lb and the bike can hold my weight, it’s the bike seat that can’t.

I brought a Schwinn wideseat from walmart and it held up for about an hour before it fell out.I think it’s the clamps because they’re old but I don’t know.

Any advice?

  1. Wide does not necessarily mean stronger!

You may also need to upgrade to a better seat post with better saddle rail clamps.

    >Finding a bike saddle that is the right size for your body mostly has to do with the width of the saddle and how well it supports your ischial tuberosities (sit bones). Generally, you want a saddle that’s wide enough for good support, but not so wide that it causes rubbing and chafing.

Consider looking for local shops that offer bike fitting services where they have a bunch of demo saddles that you can try out on their bike fit setup or maybe on your bike for a test ride and then buy that saddle new if they have it in stock or they will order it for you.
