The court where the Nuremberg Trials were held
For whoever does the alleged manual control at YouTube. The community guidelines are here : https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/9288567?hl=en I suggest you read them. If you decide that this video is in breach of any of them, I suggest you tell me precisely where.
My history channel is based on my own research and generally comes from places I have visited and or original research. I live in a motorhome and as such spend most of my time travelling between Poland, Germany and Italy which is why there is a tendency to produce material from these countries, and sometimes material that is not available in English. My speciality is in World War Two, and in particular, the Holocaust although as you can see, I have opinions on a lot of other historical subjects too.

People (including Glenn Greenwald!) some times get angry when I call Nuremberg "victors' justice." Glenn objected. Then I asked him this question:
"Was there any scenario in which Goering would have been allowed to live?"
Stalin was more direct – he wanted to simply shoot them all. Oddly, it would probably have been more just to do it that way. It would have avoided absurdities* like Schacht's acquittal and sparing Speer's life. (Schacht of course jury-rigged the German economy to fund rearmament; Speer made the war longer and bloodier than it might otherwise have been.)
That having been said, the process was important. To get as much on the record as possible so that no one could credibly deny what the regime had done.
We just should not pretend that it was a fair or dispassionate process. These men deserved death.
*Not to mention having a Soviet "judge" on the panel. A man representing a system just as brutal and murderous as the one on trial.
One check is on Iohannis
Hi alan..🖐 that brownstone looks original to the 40's. Maybe go in and do a video and check out the rear buildings.?
Extremely interesting. I have never been to Nuremberg but if I ever visit there, I will definitely tour the courtroom and related facilities. Speaking of Nazis who escaped justice —- while the name Julius Streicher is rightfully remembered as one of the absolutely worst anti-Semitic monsters in history and who was hung at Nuremberg — his dedicated partner-in-crime escaped punishment. Streicher's cartoonist for "Der Steurmer" Philip Rupprecht, known as "Fipps" only spent a couple of years in prison before being released. He died in obscurity in Germany decades later. Yet the cartoons of "Fipps" are just as vicious, hateful, and violently provocative as all the writings of Streicher. Millions of Germans saw the artworks of "Fipps" and were heavily influenced by them. There is no question his artwork played a huge part in the demonization and murder of millions. It's very curious to me why "Fipps" escaped execution and today has been mostly forgotten.
Alan: thanks for another great year of brilliant history and on-site videos. You bring us to places most of us will never have a chance to see. Merry Christmas and cheers from Minnesota.
The justice at the end of the war was metted out very lopsidedly. As you mentioned martin sandberger perhaps the worse mass murderer in human history died of old age in comfort where as people like john Drmyanuc ( spelling wrong ) were hounded for years. Amother one who I thought didn't really deserve it was Oscar Groaning. Called the accountant of Auswich he was all of 19 years old when sent to the camp.
