Why do people cycle in the UK like they are in a race? At that speed at 40mph you are a liability to yourself and anybody else.
There is an offence of ‘cyclist failing to comply with a traffic sign’ so they can and should be prosecuted. It used to be a fixed penalty.

What I see in this video is the blatant disregard of the law , also a Police officer walks right across in front of these cyclists and does nothing. Also I notice in the comments how people (cyclists) glory in the fact that they can and do break the law. As a cyclist/motorcyclist/car driver and truck driver I won't pretend to have never broken the law but I have never felt the need to boast about it. In my view if your on the road on whels ,whatever they are. You are liable to the laws of the road , and that includes speed limits. I bet if the motorcyclist in this video wennt a few mph over the limit he would have been pulled up by the police. Also if anybody bothers to look motorcycles are listed as cycles on there tax discs. A fifhteen stone guy on a cycle doing forty mph can kill a pedestrian just as easily as a car. Stay safe London.
isnt it the case that cycles do not have to obey speed limits as they are not powered vehicles. road traffic act 1984 speed limits only apply to motor vehicles. also highway code rule 124 only applies to motor vehicles.. also e bikes are also exempt as they are classed as bicycles, provided they only have a motor capable of 15.5 mph
