The CapTEN is an eleven-mile Category A Medium fell race in West Dorset, along the South West Coast Path and Jurassic coastline.
Starting in Seatown, the race is two laps, taking in hills Thorncombe Beacon (157 metres / 515 ft) and Golden Cap (191 metres / 627 ft).
The route has approximately 1,000m of ascent, scaling Thorncombe Beacon twice per lap.
For those looking for a shorter race, the 5.5 mile single lap equivalent is called the Boson.
I live 180 miles from Dorset, so I stayed at the Hobby Farm campsite the night before the race. The morning of the race was wet, and we were urged to park in the Langdon Hill National Trust Car Park, a two-kilometre jog downhill to Seatown.
Good for the post-race jog back. By the start of the race, the rain had stopped, and the day turned out to be very humid. When I crossed the finish line, it was a beautiful sunny day.
I found the race very, very challenging. Overall, I finished 20th of 56 runners in 02:18:44, with the first lap in around 01:05:30.
