Hi, just bought this vertical bike rack but was curious if this will damage the back wheel and rim at all? The internet seems to state it’s ok but I’ve also seen that this could cause some “bubbling” in the tire itself. Just wanted to check with the Reddit community. Thanks in advance.

No problem. If you can just spin the wheel every so often. I store bikes like this for months.
What do people mean by “bubbling”? The weight of the bike itself is most certainly not enough to damage the rim. Yes, it *might* damage your tire on the pressure points when storing it for extended periods of time without turning the wheels, but so would storing it on a horizontal bike stand. Ideally, the stand would have contact points that are shaped with an inner radius roughly similar to the outer radius of the tire to evenly distribute pressure. That said, assuming you use your bike regularly that is a non-issue. If you don’t, rotate the wheels every now and then.
I would be more worried about the bike stand tipping over.
