I want to know if this Trek 1000 road bike is worth what it’s advertised for. The owner ended up offering me $230 after I checked it out. The brakes are a little stiff and not as responsive as I’d like but that’s something that I can change later. Any thoughts?

No. 3x chainring is heavy. 8 speed stuff hard to find.
It depends on your region and what you are planning on using the bike for. While I tend to steer people away from triple chainring bikes $230 is cheap enough that I would consider it. In my high cost of living city 200-300 is going to be the value of a working bike. Drop bar road bikes are often more expensive than 200-300 here. Others will see almost no value in the bike and say it is worth $50-100, that price it would get bought and flipped extremely quickly in my area.
