Bike is a Norco Shinobi 2 (2012). I don't seem to remember this bolt doing this last time I checked it. Wasn't sure if something could have happened to it whilst riding it. It tightens to a point and then clicks and becomes loose again. I can tighten it again but the same thing happens and the thread on the bolt itself appears to be ok.

Could this be a stripped thread inside my BB pivot?

  1. yes that could be, stop doing that and provide more information on how the whole think is threaded together.

  2. Main pivot bolts should be regularly torqued to factory specs with a torque wrench. Leave that stuff to a professional if you don’t know what you’re doing. I’ve had my share of bolts I needed to drill out because either the customer stripped them or it was corroded and fused due to lack of servicing.

That looks like a cheap Allen key. The type you get for free with flat pack furniture. It looks like it was not properly in the head of the bolt and popped out when it distorted.

What brand of Allen keys were you using?
