New guy here, I have a 2019 Fit Trl Harti and I need to replace the cranks, chain, pedals, and spindle on it due to rust and stripped bolts (yes I have ways of getting it off). But anyways I have found spec sheets online for the bike, and I was hoping I could get recommendations for the 4 previously mentioned items.

Also is there any websites I should use/stay away from along with brands?

Thanks in advance!

  1. Cranks come with a spindle, figure out what you want, and what size spindle they use, then buy a mid bottom bracket in the same size. Pedals are generally all compatible if you get them through a bmx shop because they usually won’t carry 1/2 pedals. 9/16 is the standard for bmx. Chain is also whatever floats your boat. It’s a pretty individualistic sport

  2. Whatever brand/model you get, get the 22mm spindle. Most good sprockets come wide enough and require a spacer for use with a 19mm, so you should be good, but double check.

The reason for the 22’s is all stiffness. You prob won’t break 19’s, but the 22’s feel significantly more stiff and snappy when doing everything.

People have been going shorter and shorter with crankarm lengths. You don’t need to, but it’ll make that frame feel a little bit more poppy if you want it. 170 seems to be the new all-around size. If you pedal around on commutes and stuff, I wouldn’t go low.

Pedals will bolt in so long as they’re a good company. I used to think they were a big deal, but now that I’ve gone through a bunch I know nothing pedal-wise is a game changer for me. I have buddies that have metal grind plates on the bottoms of theirs and they’re pretty sick. You don’t need it though.
