I saw some discussion recently about bike travel bags, so I decided to share my diy travel bag.

In total it cost me about $200 to make. I have never used any other travel bag, as I don't travel enough to justify the $500+ cost. But I did research them extensively when designing/building mine and I feel that mine is just as protective as any soft-sided bag on the market. I've traveled with it 4 times and never had any issues. It has worked great. It's got wheels and a handle so I can wheel it through the airport easily. It also has shoulder straps that help lifting it in and out of a car/truck.

Here is the breakdown of all the parts/components:
Bag $40
Wheel bags $40
Wheels $10
Kayak handle $5
Square Aluminum tube $30
L brackets & self tapping metal screws $10
Corrugated Plastic sheet $30
Fork mount $ 18
Rear mount $16

Total: $199

The yoga matts, foam block & velcro strips were things I already had laying around, so those are not included in my costs and would have been probably another $20-$40. Everything except the rear mount (which is 3d printed carbon fiber, bought off eBay) came from Amazon or Menards.
