$1900 (AUD) for a *like new* Norco Search XR S2, sold by my local mechanic (his bike). Worth it?

I bought mine at the height of the pandemic and lockdown so paid the full $3500 CAD price for it.

I see MSRP in Canada is still $3500 but many retailers price it between $2500 and $3000. Higher than the $2300 AUD.

This was my first drop bar bike since I was a kid. Bike packing, long distance touring is my main activity on it. I spent 6 months with it in pain and needing recovery time doing any more than 50km on it. I finally agreed to get it fitted and spent nearly another thousand for it to now fit like a glove and go consecutive days on it.

It’s a bit banged up now but I see it as mine and love it to death like a trusty stead that’ll get me through my adventures.

I had originally considered the flat bar version but I liked the colour plus it was available. I had to touchup repair the paint recently ontop of the usual wear and tear maintenance.

I don’t regret having done it in 2021.

OTOH, a friend just bought a brand new Argon 18 Dark Matter all carbon for $2500. (I started track cycling to pass the winter and prep to do a 200 mile day in 2025 and the track rentals are Argon 18 Electrons). SRAM electronic shifting. I am pretty sure I’ll have done something to crack the frame within 2 years but I’m curious what else is out there now that prices have come down so much.
