Unusual problem, my new Marketplace pickup is far nicer than expected

I saw this '98 Fire Mountain on Marketplace for $40 and, of course, grabbed it immediately with the intention of doing some kind of nonsense xbike build. It looked to be in decent shape in the one picture in the ad, but not so much that I would have second thoughts about replacing anything or everything on it – like my '98 Hahanna. You can imagine my surprise, then, to end up bringing THIS home.

All I've done so far is wash the dust off, but I'm going to have to tread lightly on this one! Needs a little service after (presumably) 25+ years of sitting, and a replacement for the mismatched front wheel, but I'm dumbfounded by the condition. I'm both incredibly stoked for it and a tiny bit bummed about feeling the need to be responsible 😂
