The mission to visit as many countries in one day by bike continues.
My route went through:
– Germany
– The Netherlands
– Belgium
– Luxembourg
– France
Whilst spending 6 weeks bike packing around Europe, I tried to visit the most countries I could in 24 hours, by bicycle. The world record is 7 countries visited by bike, I’m starting with a test route of 5 countries and adding in a heavy bike.
The route would also be a good test for other none bicycle ideas and give me an idea of what is possible.
Lots of lessons for my future adventures and useful for anyone interested in breaking world records related to ‘most countries visited in a day’.

Cycling World record info:
Dávid Kővári visited the most countries in 24 hours by bicycle and set the world record at 7 countries. He started in Poland and went through the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, Hungary, Slovenia and finished in Croatia.
Maja Tóth holds the female world record by visiting 5 countries in 1 day by bicycle. (this could definitely be beaten by a keen cyclist)
The most countries visited by bike in 7 days is an incredible 17 countries. Craig Nillson set this on 19th June 2022 by cycling 2875 km (1,786 mi) across Europe. 410km a day!
I think there are some fun ‘most countries in 24 hours on X’ records to be broken on other modes of transport using a good 5 country route.

Route issues
The main roads in Luxembourg did not have cycle paths. I had to take dedicated and lovely cycle highways that were a longer route.
