Buying a bike for my daughter here in Canada. I’m getting both for the same price ($450CAD). The Trek seems to be a better deal in that the MSRP is higher, but the components seem pretty good on the Opus. The main reason I’m thinking about the Opus is that it might be less attractive to bike thieves. Any reason we should opt for the Trek?

Test rode both?
Trek has lower stand over, a better lighter aluminum frame, lower center of gravity.
Opus has higher stand over a cheaper heavier steel frame and possibly worse geometry with the high bottom bracket with a high center of gravity.
Get some red tape to cover over the Trek logo if you think the Trek logo will make it more attractive to theft. The larger issue is if it’s properly locked with a good lock or two or not. Between two bikes of around equal value a thief may often take the one that is easier to get.
