I bike to and from work (and just around town in general) daily and am looking to switch from my single speed to something with multiple gears since i live in a very hilly city. Pretty new to biking in the sense that I’ve had one bike for a long time and don’t know much about brands or individual bicycle pieces, so I’m having trouble finding one that fits what I’m looking for, which would be:

-This style (love the fenders and handlebars mostly)

-more than 3 gears (pretty hilly city, i need to be able to deal with hills with relative ease)

-around $650 or so

-reliable, something i won’t need to put a shit ton of money into or worry about constantly

Doesn’t have to be top of the line, i just want something decent for around my price range.

  1. You might be better off buying a used bike and swapping handlebars and adding fenders, both of which can be had for relatively inexpensive. 650 will not buy you a lot of new bike…. Especially component wise. But retrospec is quite cheap and have a lot of “vintage style” new bikes, they generally have sub entry level groupsets, (think Shimano tourney.) they are perfectly rideable bikes though, if assembled/set up properly, and maintained well.
