Team has been let go: https://www.thebloombmx.com/2024/12/gt-team-let-go.html
Press release expected later today that the remaining inventory will be sold off and the brand "paused".
Given the history of Pon Holdings I would guess that the brand will be sold and/or licensed and you'll see "GT" bikes at Walmart in a couple years.

On one hand I hear of stuff like gt shutting down and bike sales being at its lowest with alot of overstock. And on the other hand I hear alot of people looking for new parts that are no where in stock. Also brands releasing new product on the regular.
I am confused as I only just started riding. Maybe someone has some input for me
I have a 23′ Mercado Team bike. I don’t like the geometry but that’s not the bikes fault. Overall it was a really good buy. I’ll probably end up selling or trading it.
I saw recently lots of GT parts for pretty cheap. Some of them are pretty good for the price.
Hate to hear about anyone in the BMX industry pausing or shutting down but I doubt this will be the last.
While gt hardly has been the brand powerhouse it was in the 80’s and 90’s, their current output looked decent enough, seems crazy that one of the most long term recognisable brands in bmx is basically stopping making bikes and a future that seems uncertain or worse as above the name licensed out for any old crap.
I finally got a heritage pro performer 20 this year, just in time apparently. Been trying to find one for years. Huge amount of nostalgia for GT brand, this is sad.
Damn I knew that the half priced dirt jumper I just bought had to come with a catch. Goodbye to an icon of my childhood.
