At 5’8″ is unlikely that a large MTB will work well for you. Medium or small/medium should be what you are looking for.
for 300, I would get a hybrid bike. this frankenbike was initially a mtb, and it will be heavy, slow and unagile.
For that bike in that condition, yes it’s a good deal.
But this bike probably won’t fit you since it’s a large frame and you’re 5’8. Additionally, this is a wacky bike with wacky parts that some enthusiast might enjoy because of its weirdness. If you’re not very experienced with bikes and you’re looking for a bike to ride around town and commute 3 miles, then you should look for a medium frame hybrid bike that’s mostly stock.
