Saved this Marin from the metal bin as I was on my way out of the dump. Original owner was cleaning out his garage and decided it wasn't worth anything. He was very happy to see it go to a good home.
As far as I can tell it's all original including the Marin tires which still hold air.
My favorite part is the price and the stock anodized blue brakes…it's like it decided it's own color scheme.
Have a '93 purple Rockhopper fully built with Paul components, Super Yummy tan wall tires etc and front basket which is awesome.
How would you build out the Marin as something completely different? Just no drop bars please 🙂

i actually like keeping these old bikes pretty much stockish. and awesome on no drop bars. if i want a road bike i’ll get on a bike intended for drops.
basically i just like to bougie my bikes up a little.
The only thing I’d really wanna change is those awful gripshifters. It’s a personal taste thing I know, but I just hate them with a passion. Keep an eye out for some period correct STX shifters to match the rest of the drivetrain and we’re good 👍
Just replace anything else worn out with a like for like used equivalent for safety’s sake though.
