Did a dirty muddy wet “gravel” ride on Saturday. Lost all rear braking by the end of the ride. Assumed the caliper had borked. During maintenance today I realized dirt got caught in the pads on the ride and stripped the whole pad off! Never seen a pad completely deteriorated on a single ride like that.

Looks like your caliper is sitting a little too high above the rotor and you’re getting uneven contact between the rotor/pads.
Maybe metal pads and blast some water in there now and again. There is odd uneven pad wear too.
Ive ridden dh parks(snowshoe wva) for three days in the mud and didn’t burn pads off.
steel pads and remove the post spacers at the caliper for full pad engagement.

Not uncommon when riding in the rain, especially when there’s dirt/grit, like gravel and CX riding. As others have mentioned, sintered pads are better for these conditions, but the downside is that they have less initial “bite”.
Personally, I’ve used Shimano sintered pads and didn’t notice much of a difference in stopping ability, but YMMV.

I would consider some solid mudguards with flaps in those conditions. Especially if you aren’t racing.
