  1. Honestly in terms of redundancy you’d be better off knowing how to foot brake and carrying spares of whatever foot retention you choose if you are worried. You still have no redundancy if your chain snaps/pops which foot braking would cover as well. Or just run a front brake.

    For someone who thinks their chain is unbreakable, you seem to have very little faith in your cleats staying engaged. You can adjust the tension on the pedals and make it damn near impossible to unclip without really wrenching your foot out. This is also just dangerous, when you crash it’s really beneficial that your foot disengages from the pedals. This setup is just adding danger for no benefit. (Also olympians use this setup because of the intense upward pulling they do during a start, once at speed this system is no longer necessary since they use clipless pedals)
