Hi, I’m looking at buying a road bike (chapter 2 tere) but there is this hole on the carbon chantry on bottom (hidden when looking from side). I can’t tell if it’s supposed to be thee or not and can’t see it any many other models, but haven’t seen many from that year. The guy selling it says it’s there to release pressure in the mould when producing the frames. Is this true?

  1. I would say no that’s not true, while carbon frames do sometimes have holes, they would be finished. The raw fibres make me think this has happened since production eg a crash etc

It’s an exit hole for a wire for Di2 that’s in the mold but not used. It’s fine. Ugly but not dangerous.

It looks like a bodge (diy) job for di2 cable or similar. Unfinished and unclean, I would walk away from it.
