Hello, everyone.
Today during my bike ride, the front derailleur failed out of the blue when I was changing from the largest to the smallest chainring.
As well as being strange because it's never happened before, I often change gears without any problems during my rides.
This caused the chain to get stuck between the crankset and the frame, locking the crankset, bent the metal protection plate on the frame and scratched the carbon frame.
The bike is only months old. Does this incident justify claiming on the bike's warranty?
Thanks, everyone.
I've attached some photos for reference. Thanks

Very unlikely that it’s a standard warranty claim in the sense of “oops, our fault, let us make it right”.
Chain drops happen very rarely when everything is set up right, but they can still happen in unfortunate circumstances (eg shifting on bumpy terrain, under max power, in very tight corners).
Check whether it’s a frame security issue, if yes ask Canyon what a frame crash replacement would cost.
That’s not a “failure.” It’s called a chain drop and can happen on any bike even if it’s set up perfectly. Not a warranty case.
i remember a few months ago someone had a chain drop and had some damage as well. while technically it’s not a warranty problem canyon replaced the frame. have a search in the sub and good luck with it.
Check if a wedge piece is installed to secure the front mech. If not, it could be a warranty claim. Please Google “sram axs front derailleur wedge piece” yourself.
Dude, I dropped the chain on an old bike that I had that didn’t even have a skid plate. The chain ground right into my carbon frame and made a gouge deep enough for fingernails and then some….. I rode that bike like a bat out of hell for five years.
You might have to take the crank off and remove the plate as it’s just glued on, but you should be good 👍
