(22M, 6’0”) Hi I recently moved to Milwaukee from Chicago. Most of my life I have riden a “cheap” $200 Harper Single Speed to get to work and things.
I’ve realized MKE has a lot more hills which makes riding my old beaten up single gear a tiring challenge. So I’m looking for a new “used” bike as I’m a college student and don’t have the cash for smth completely new, more like $500 range. I found this Cannondale T2000 for a decent price. So, I was wondering if this is worth it or if I should keep looking.

It’s a quality bike. The grease in the shifters tends to get gummy but can usually be resolved by spraying lube in them. I think their price may be a bit high but that 3×9 drive train should climb anything to want to attempt. Maybe offer 200?
The XTR rear der that actually worked with the drop bar shifters! and a 3×9 drivetrain…yeah, you’re gonna be fine with that stuff. 9 speed stuff is still readily available. Shifters are probably sticky, like was mentioned. Easy fix. Solid frame. Agree with the $200 offer.
I’m a cheap-ass, I think my average bike purchase price is around $54, but that calculation doesn’t include the last two I got, which were free (although one is basically just for parts. )
And even so, I’d be really tempted to take a look at it, seems like a fair or perhaps even very good price.
