I was trying to fix my brakes from rubbing on the rims and out of nowhere this tiny thing fell out, and i have no idea from where. Does anyone recognize it, and will my bike discombobulate in the middle of a ride without?

Is it the bolt on the chain tugs too help tension?

Just my $0.02, but if you don’t know the difference between a bolt and a nut you should probably take your bike to a bike shop to get repaired.
Throw it out. Less is more.
