We visit St Albans and the famous St Peters Street, we look around the Maltings shopping centre, the historic clock tower, French Row and St Peters church, where Jenny’s mum and dad married back in 1945. We have a nice meal at the Saint and Sinner. We ask ourselves the question, could we ever go back to St Albans and live there?

It was interesting hearing about what had changed since you left St Albans. You seemed to have avoided the worst of the traffic congestion that I recall from more recent times. It could be horrendous on a Saturday and probably not dissimilar in the rush hour from Monday to Friday.
St Albans has a long history with some interesting architecture and places to visit. However, is not very typical of contemporary Hertfordshire, with its four New Towns and a population nearly five times what it was in 1900.
Being about 20 minutes from central London by train, I first noticed locals being priced out of the local property market by people working in London, who were moving further out in the early 1980s but perhaps the trend started long before then.
You can’t beat a bit of nostalgia. Interesting to see the various buildings and hear of their previous uses. Good to see so many banks. I used to work for a Nationwide Agency in an Insurance brokers and remember looking for that last penny! Crikey the house prices are eye watering. Xx
I didn’t realise you were from St Albans , I used to live in Stevenage and went to many a folk do in St Albans.
I'm ashamed to say it's years since I've been to St Albans even though I live not far away. I've always liked the place because it is one of the few places in this area that still retains it's uniqueness. I loved this video, seeing all the shops and listening to your many memories of when you lived there. It made me want to go back for a visit. Thank you both very much. Cuddle for Poppy.
Looks a nice place to live, Love that nutcracker, I collect them🎄🎄. Great video.
Lovely video. It’s a
No doubt the local council will erect blue plaques on the bank and building society where the famous Jenny Earnshaw used to work!
I absolutely loved this video. Some wonderful recollections from you both. I can totally empathise with Bob on the state of the exchange. They all seem to be like that now, very poorly maintained :(. Still, time marches on. Ian
I've lived in St Albans all my life and it's still OK it's a shame the Bus Garage was knocked down and the Hospital was part demolished our youngest Son married in St Peters
We had our wedding reception in the Waterend barn
The Saint and Siner was the Nationwide untill recently
The Chequers Cinema Elliots the Wimpey Bar and the Record Room all great places in Chequers Street back in the 70s
The best little shoping arcade in ST Albans is Heritage Close opposite the Clock tower which is home to Empire Record’s and a few other specialist shops and some places to eat and drink
You wife lived very near us great video
It does make you think how people are for houses🤔. If you don't mind me asking what made you move to Southport? Would you move back to St Albans if you could afford it?
We were in St Albans in 2013, for my lovely late son's graduation at the cathedral. Such a beautiful cathedral. It was a wonderful day. I was so proud of him. He received his first class honours degree. I remember my husband waiting in Costa for us all to come out, as he wasn't able to attend the ceremony due to limits on tickets. Seems like yesterday. A very emotional, but so sad vlog for me to watch. Thanks for sharing 😊
Well, I certainly enjoyed your travels and memories of St Albans. Thank you for taking the time to share your day.
Love this tour of St Albans. I have a school friend lives there now. Must make an effort to go and visit her. Bit of a stretch from Anglesey 😃
Well done for giving the Telephone Exchange a mention, I spent a good few hours there😊
You were wonder if we enjoyed this video. My wife and I were entertained by the down town walk. We were wishing that we could of walked with you as you were remembering all the good memories. I would pause the video when there was a menu or estate agency. And the picture inserted of your wedding was a great addition for the video. Thanks for the walk down nostalgia street and taking us along.
Oh memories! We are back in Barnet for New Years! Wonder if theres a Monopoly "Barnet" Edition? Hmm, last we saw most of the shops had, changed to mainly charity shops!
