Found this jag wire thing, and added that cable stop and spring, fits perfectly in that derailleur. But I just realized it’s technically upside down (would be turning it the opposite direction).
Thought about adding an inline adjuster in the back, does anyone do that? Or should I just have the one inline adjuster in the front by the shifter, started to build it out with one up front (last pic)
Having an adjuster in the rear would be nice when setting it up for the first time. Not sure what is technically the “correct” way to set it up?

I wouldn’t even bother putting one back there. The shifter has one and if you need to make a tweak mid ride you don’t have to stop and get off. Once you set the derailleur up in the stand you won’t need to adjust it enough to need 2 adjustment points
Well, congrats for the idea first and foremost. If it works reliably, and does not “wander” under spring load i’d probably stick to it, as to me its a cleaner look; i dont like in-line adjusters visually, + you’ll have your ingenuinity built into your bike, which is a bonus.
If you correctly set your high limit screw before tightening the cable, you’ll be able to do all of the micro adjustments that you need using the barrel adjuster on the shifter. Make sure the barrel adjuster is all the way in when you start also. I have personally never needed to install an additional barrel adjuster for this type of install. Good luck!
What shifter are you pairing with? If it has a barrel adjuster, I would just use that and be done. Otherwise, I generally keep in-line barrel adjusters close to the cockpit where I can reach them (although I never use them) and where they won’t rattle against my frame.
Only reason I ask about the shifter….I can’t remember if some of the Shadow rders had a pull-ratio that could be used with road shifters.
EDIT: I see it in the last photo now….had to expand it. I would keep it near the shifter, seems to be where the housing has the least amount of bend. However, if adding one to the rear of the rder, that’s a clean look!
Any and all options you’ve presented so far will work just fine. As others have said though, if your shifter has one (which unless you’re doing something weird, it will.) then you should use that for no other reason than being able to adjust it while riding the bike. If you’d rather it back there though, give er.
Inline up front. Far more convenient and I think looks plenty clean.
Thanks everyone for the comments! I’ll stick with just the inline up front! Just the initial thought about setting it up for the first time kind of threw me off, but it’s not really anything different, just the placement. And I like the idea of fine tuning adjustments while riding right by the shifter too.
There’s an adjuster at the shifter, that’s enough.
I don’t like the inline adjusters because they can’t be adjusted with one hand, making adjustments while riding perilous at best.
I got those same Jagwire barrels and use them at the downtube stops, work great!
