I can’t rejoice at what is coming to Attercliffe, I would have like to have seen investment in modern engineering firms and housing for working class people. This is more gentrification and destruction of Sheffield with their cycle lanes and 20mph zones.

I started work at 15 years old in 1980. I remember it was wall to wall Industry, steel work, tool making at Moore and wright's, etc. I was working with an old guy called Bill down Attercliffe in the steel works, he was showing me the ropes, I can remember him saying to me, Pat one day all this will have gone, I thought, not a chance. Wow, I can't believe how right he was. It breaks my heart to see it as it is now. Disgraceful.
I can remember a group called erasure making a song about how the government killing the working man and all our dreams. So so true.
And all for the pipe dream of Nut Zero homes!
The big building you mentioned which was once a gay bar ( Dancing Dollar I think ) was previously and for many years the Attercliffe Non Political Club. It was affectionately known as THE NON POTS. During the war it suffered bomb damage but not to be defeated, My Grandad, long gone now bless him, and a few other stalwarts kept the club open by selling beer from a home made gantry in the ruins. From there it was developed into the building which you see now.
A city built by men in overalls and destroyed by men in suits.
Do you think the businesses bordering that development are on borrowed time ? The development will creep… what a nightmare trying to drive around that area. Thanks for the update.
who would want to live around that area apart from a certain community,and what's all this 20mph about,I always thought that created more pollution, and as you said more gridlock more pollution, get rid of this council

Have you seen all the new homes in kelham island? Opposite the fat cat pub. They look so cheap and soul less. I can’t imagine they will last very long.

Bloody hell, not seen that much traffic queuing up there before at anytime of day! you have no choice but to wait at the lights as before you would swing left just before onto Effingham road then non stop all the way to the lights on the junction of Derek dooley way just under the Victoria Station Bridge. I noticed Stevenson Rd is more busy now as you can go straight across onto Effingham Rd, For now………
