For some context, I am a recent convert to road cycling and I’m looking to upgrade from my 2001 steel frame Lemond to something that will go a bit faster, and I’m hoping to train up and do some racing in the future. My budget is…limited, so I am targeting second hand bikes that are under $1,300. These are a few contenders that I have recently found on Facebook Marketplace and/or Craigslist. I’d be interested to hear your feedback as I try to make a decision!

That Cannondale is a sexy mfer. With a 105? I’m sold.

Love my CAAD13. I’m new, I’d just say you can purchase that with confidence. I’m sure the others are great too

try them if you can, the best one is the one that works the best. With most second used bikes you’ll get some issues. Find the one with less issues

All are pretty solid. If you’re hoping to race in the future I would go with the Cannondale out of the choices listed. Tried and true frame, looks great too. Make sure it is the right size, maybe go to a shop to get an idea of how that 56 will fit.

If you are able to ride all of them. Whatever you like the best is the best one. They all have different geometry and will feel different. The best bike it the bike that you enjoy riding

The one that fits you and you think is best. Cause then you’ll ride it more.

I’ll go against the crowd and say I’d normally stick to carbon. The polygon looks like it has the best components (if the geometry fits you). The specialized will be the most comfortable for longer days in the saddle as its guess it has the “future shock”, but it will likely be the heaviest and cost most to service.

I’d pick the polygon because I’m fascinated by those bikes and the amazing value they offer. But alternatively I’d go Cannondale or BMC.

I’d go for the Polygon.

Caad13! I have a caad12 and it is a fantastic bike. It’s very light, responsive and I love every ride on it.

Caad any day

for $1000+ you should be able to get a carbon frame and a nice component group. Polygon is the only one that fills that bill IMO
but fit/condition trumps anything listed on paper. I’d offer $800 if you like any of those options. the bike resale market is brutal. esp this time of year. Somebody will bite…
