When I finally got back into riding earlier this year, I picked up this Windsor locally because it was dirt cheap. The components were garbage and another bike popped up that I wanted to build, so I grabbed that one and have been riding it exclusively. I held on to this one though as an extra and started throwing scavenged parts from other bikes I had lying around as a “budget build” and ended up really liking how this was turning out. The only new “parts” on this bike are the grips and I’m sticking with the used theme as I move forward with it. So far it has been given:

Vans X Cult Grips
Ritchey Stem
Ritchey Riser Bars
Ritchey Seat Post
Fizik Argo Terra X1 Saddle
Sugino RD2 Cranks
State Bike Co Wheelset
28c Gatorskin(rear) & Grand Prix GT(front)

Plans for final form:

Ritchey Carbon Fork
Ritchey Seat Post Clamp
Ritchey Steering Tube Cap
Red chainring/crank arm bolts on 42t Messenger ring(scavenged from my other bike that’s going belt drive soon)
Wheels(Still deciding on which set, but I’m feeling like black Weinmann DP18’s would fit the theme both in color and in “budget”)

My OCD around matching parts from specific companies is abundantly clear on this one with all the Ritchey components(my other rig is all Thomson). Surely I’m not the only one who builds this way, lol. Anyway, thought you all might enjoy. This Windsor is a hell of bike for being so cheap, especially with the upgraded parts.

  1. Haha. My first fixed was a Windsor the hour. Yellow. Dirt cheap from bikes direct after my bike got stolen.
