The charity Electrical Safety First has urged these batteries to be approved by an accredited third party before sale.

  1. I dont think the chopper or that scooter had been un tampered. corect charger? left to charge over night? this seems like click bait usig a fire clip. no actual infomation here is there

  2. Seen the same thing with a rechargeable hedge trimmer, house fires are not fun, check your smoke alarm, it may save your life. A smoke alarm saved me and my dog.

  3. There’s a ship on the North Sea, carrying almost 4,000 electric cars that just had an explosion. They cannot put out the fire.

  4. Scary for families involved . Seems battery tech or at least cheap battery tech isn’t up to the job yet. Maybe instead of working out how to put fires out we need to invent batteries that dont blow up in first place and sue the manufacturers of such dangerous tech . Imagine if that scooter in a tall block of flats?
Government/trading standards need to sort this problem out.
Plus the tech isn’t developed enough yet. So scientists need to sort out. This seems to occasionally happen to cars too. Guess the race to get products into a competitive market outweighs high quality design of batteries .

  5. Have you seen what happens when a petrol tank explodes?!
EV fires are about 50 times LESS common than fires in petrol/diesel vehicles.
But don't let the facts get in the way of a good bit of fossil fuel propaganda…

  6. Thanks for keeping us updated. A lot of people are financially struggling to live, keep a roof over there head and put food on their table.Anyone who is not investing now is missing a tremendous opportunity.Imagine investing $500 and receiving $9,300 in 14 days through Mrs Marian. She's the best

  7. Yes people who buy cheap batteries will have problems. But most of all… these fires by e-bike batteries are not as common as household appliances such as fridge freezers and other electric appliances ( remember Grenfell tower), that represent far greater risks to households! People need to get a grip including the media sensationalising e-bike battery fires…perhaps channel 4 news could concentrate on the British/tory governments involvement in vile regimes that are murdering people on a daily basis or how the NHS won’t be here in 30 years thanks to all those multi millionaires in the Conservative Party and Labour Party who are to busy lining their own pockets and privatising our public services whilst the British media are being sensationalist about e-bike batteries
